A birthday present.
Louise O’Keefe, on right, put the ‘Keeping Kids on Track’ funrun
in motion as a part fundraiser for the Kongor School.
Together with the Bass Coast Barracudas Triathlon Club, the ‘Keeping
Kids on Track’ team donated $1,000 to the school.
Here Louise is presenting the $1,000 cheque as a first birthday
present to the Kongor School Support Group.
More birthday presents;
Felicia Di Stefano, convener of the group, telling supporters
two exciting sets of news.
1. During our
first year we have raised $50,000.
2. We have
found a partner to facilitate the building of the
school in South Sudan.
’Door of Hope, Australia’ will organise the
purchase of a brick making machine. People
of Kongor will be taught to make bricks using local materials and to put the
school together for their children.
The brick making machine will remain for the
people of Kongor to build other structures they need. It will then move around the state of Jonglei
for others to build buildings needed in the state. The Kongor group will donate the brick making
machine to the people of Jonglei State.
Kongor Primary School will be built using money
the Kongor School Support Group has and will continue to raise.
We need to work hard to continue raising funds
for the school.
The birthday cake.
Nicky made the lovely cake and her granddaughter, Adeng,
decorated it.
